All set!!

All set!!

So tomorrow is the fashion show!! Eeekk! We’ve had a few minor hiccups, with models dropping out, and we’re down a makeup artist, but everything will be fine in the end, I have picked out some fabulous dresses, and will be spending the next hour writing out index cards for each model, so they know what they’re wearing, and in what order!
Backstage should be fun, I’ve always loved the chaos before a show, and I’m sure there will be plenty of that on the night, so roll on 7.30pm….its showtime!!!

We’re ready to roll!!

We're ready to roll!!

The past few weeks have been a hive of ‘fashion’ activity, broken up by a lovely break away, camping in the new forest. It took me a good few days to get back into the swing of things, but now we are very nearly ready!

The hardest thing I’ve found, organising the show is getting everyone together at the same time, we had a little rehearsal with some of the models, and I realised we needed about 5 extra tracks, as it was taking a lot longer than I had anticipated to get the girls down the runway and back. But music is always the fun bit to me, so scouring through my music library, I found some great tracks that are perfect, one being a Beverly Night version of an old Janis Joplin song ‘piece of my heart’. I still remember the first time I heard that song, I was working as a campsite rep in the south of France, I was around 19 years old, and there was a rockers bar next door to the campsite that always had 5 or 6 beautiful Harley Davidson’s parked outside, so one day I was having a drink with my fellow reps, when the barman turned up the volume, and Janis Joplin came screeching through the speakers…..it blew me away!! I still love it, but appreciate that not everyone will share my tastes in music, so the Beverly version is a safer bet!
Picking the clothes has also been a lot of fun, and the models are getting very excited.
I have roped in my friends to help, and its amazing how helpful people are when they share your vision.

So all in all, everything is going well, with only 9 days until ‘showtime’….watch this space….!!

Sneak preview!!

This week has been spent photographing, measuring and gathering up the models.
They all come from Pole-school, which I also run, so its pretty handy as I see them all the time, so there will be no worries about sudden weight or hair changes!
I also had a visit from Gulseren, of ‘Gulserensboutique’, she brought over a selection of dresses for the evening wear section, and some are just so glamorous, I can’t wait to see them on the catwalk!

Next week I’ll be catching up with the other boutiques and will give you another sneaky peak at what I find!

Enjoy the sunshine ( its 23 degrees in London!)

Preparations

Preparations

So my fashion show preparations are in full swing. I have been spending a lot of time picking the music, as I find it is so important to have the right soundtrack to set the mood! I have picked ‘heavy cross’ by gossip (as used in the ‘Dior’ advert) as my opening song, its so powerful, and great to ‘walk’ to. I’ve also decided on some 50s rocknroll for my swimwear section, so its all coming together nicely.

I have meetings set up next week with the boutique’s to pick the clothes, and I’ll be taking photos of all the models this week so we can match them up with the garments and accessories! Ooh let the fun begin….

A denim story

A denim story

I love denim, and having just stumbled upon this book ‘a denim story’ by Emily Curren, its easy to see why I am not the only one.
Its packed with lovely photos of all different styles and looks, a great coffee table read!
I have so many pairs of jeans in my closet already, but that doesn’t stop me shopping for more. My most recent purchase was a pair of stonewash slim boyfriend jeans. I tried on 5 different brands of the boyfriend Jean before settling on these as most were just too baggy and just felt wrong after living in skinnies for as long as I can remember! Having said that, I do have a great pair of flairs which I love wearing with peasant tops and high wedge sandals in the summer…..so now that the sun is out in London…. What shall I wear today……?

Bikini fashion

Bikini fashion

So preparations for our first fashion show are well underway. I now have five exclusive boutiques on board, one of which have a gorgeous array of bikinis and swimsuits.
This has to be one of my favourite all time looks…bikini and heels, having spent around 20 years as a dancer wearing skimpy costumes with heels, I really feel at home putting this together, and with the sun coming out in London, I am rearing to go!!

Enjoy the day
